If I have to work all day on a dessert it is not easy. If after working all day on a dessert from a cookbook I discover the recipe is a complete and total scr3w up -- disaster -- misprinted, mistaken, erroneous recipe, then I am REALLY ANGRY. I wasted a ton of ingredients because NO ONE edited and reviewed the recipes in this book.
Check out pg 32 - Tarte au citron. Total botch job. The amount of lemon juice is total guesswork because she says 5 lemons, but the amount of juice from lemons can vary greatly. The amount of sugar is pretty normal, the amount of eggs is a bit lower than some recipes, but still within reason. Then look at the amount of heavy cream she asks for. 1 cup plus 1/4 cup of sour cream. REALLY? Are you ****** kidding me?????!!!! It made a bowl of lemon juice soup that was 200% of the amount of fluid needed to fill the tart pan.
Compare to any other recipe for lemon tarts and you will see more like 3 tablespoons of cream!!!!! Look at CooksIllustrated, for example.

Throw this book away. Otherwise, you can never be sure the recipe is not totally botched up.

I wanted to send this to my grand daughter but you wouldn't let me so you can keep it as i have a copy and i will send her mine
I never write reviews but this book prompted enough disgust for me to jump in. I would consider myself an advanced baker and am baking at least twice a week for years. My wife bought this book for someone who wanted to try a hand at baking.

This book has lots of pretty pictures (of course) and a huge list of ingredients unlikely to be found in your cupboards (polenta, superfine sugar, current syrup, greek style yoghurt, French Muscat....) plus baking instructions that at times will require you to be a professional juggler. OK, I have some of those things in my cupboard as a seasoned baker, but this book is titled 'easy' and to me that includes the list of ingredients.

Which brings me to one of their examples of 'easy'. Their cheesecake recipes require a springform pan covered in foil and set in a roasting pan of water. Now sloshing a pan full of water into a hot oven is never 'easy' and then to make matters worse they require that have you take the half baked pan with 350 degree water out of the oven (more sloshing, only this time hot water) and spread cream cheese on it before re-inserting it back into the oven. One of many examples of 'easy desserts' to be found in this book.

This book is a travesty to what easy desserts should be about, and is sure to discourage (or injure) any first time bakers making the attempt to dive in based on the 'easy' title title and pretty pics.

"Easy Desserts" is not so easy. I'm a bit suspicious of the other reviews. This is definitely not for beginners. Too many ingredients and too time consuming. I'd need time to plan for and bake dessert (maybe for a weekend dinner party) instead of slapping a few things together for the family for a weekday dinner.
