I came across this series at a convention having never heard of it before. The art looked cute so I took a chance and bought all three. I am happy to say I was not let down. The first 2 chapters didn't hook me, in fact I was worried I'd be unable to get into the book. But by chapter 3 I was hooked and never wanted to get of the adventure!Kipper is a great main character. She's not a heart of gold hero or malice villain, just a cat trying to survive and wanting a better life for her and her family, something we can all relate to. But she's not alone in her adventure, there is a great cast of characters with such charm and likability.
One of my biggest worries going in was that this book would have dark moments or be unpleasant, I am thrilled to say that's not the case. From start to end this is fun, sprinkled with action and suspense that will leave you smiling!

Delightfully Furry! Clearly written by someone with a deep knowledge of feline psychology.
Otters in Space is a delightful, well-written book. The otters are adventurous and adorable and it is very action-packed. Will look for otter books by this author.
This is an enjoyable book. The writing is good, and the plot manages to mix lighthearted space opera with more serious themes of cultural diversity and discrimination. All in all, a fun, fast paced romp suitable for most children and complex enough to interest adults.
This book is endlessly inventive, with a well realized world full of delightful surprises. Kipper is an easy heroine to love.
This book is a pretty good story if you're a furry lover, in fact, it's a pretty good story period, and I'm looking forward to the next one. A plucky heroine stumbles into a secret that has her on the run from a shadowy organisation's hired goons and the only choice left is up, up into otter space. Give it s try.

This story is fun. It's well-written. It has space ships and cats and adventure. You'll love it. Suitable for all ages.
This book was tons of fun, and a refreshing change from the furry fiction I usually read. I'm a fan of Rukis and Kyell Gold, both of whom write in universes parallel to the real world; replace the anthros with humans, and you'd have mainstream literature. In Lowd's world, however, humans have left the earth, and species such as otters, cats, dogs, and even octopi have evolved. The animal traits in the characters aren't just entertaining details; they've hung around through evolution. Dogs literally worship humans and get great satisfaction of having rules to follow. In fact, some of them panic if there's no one around to tell them what to do! Cats are far craftier, but an underprivileged species, their kittens often growing up without parents in the inner city. I loved immersing myself in a story that didn't hesitate to play up species/breed stereotypes and wasn't afraid to be too silly or too out-of-this-world. I give it four stars, because it didn't impact me much emotionally, despite the at times serious subject matter. I didn't entirely buy the explanation for what happened to Kipper's sister, and Kipper didn't seem traumatized enough given her sister just vanished out of the blue. But it is still very much worth reading, and I've already picked up a copy as a gift; I'm not disappointed, I'm merely critical, and I expect this book will bring lots of people great joy.
