Finally a book that stands out from a saturated market. Although having a lot of books to choose from is not a bad thing, but I've been getting bored with the same formulated romance novel. I've been in a book slump lately, but this finally snapped that.Things that really separated this book from all the others (for me):
1. Tatum: She's a strong female character! I'm so glad this heroine didn't blush at any inappropriate comment like so many do. She could dish it out, be vulgar, and make me laugh. Usually when I hear the word feisty, I tend to think more negative personality traits and tend not to like the character. However, Tate is the first heroine that was feisty, but still a friendly person. She wasn't rude to anyone, but she didn't get stepped on either.
2. Jameson: I've never met an alpha quite like him. Sure, some have had traits similar to his but he's the only one that stayed consistent with how he was explained. The author showed us instead of told us, that doesn't happen often. I loved that although they weren't committed to a future and a happily ever after, he still said nice things. He wasn't cold and emotionless.
3. The overall plot: While they were playing games with one another and trying to get one on the other person, they still were honest with each other. I respected that.
4. It's been a long time since I've read sex scenes fully. To be honest, I've read so many that I feel like 'I've been there, done that' and end up skimming through those scenes. However, that was not the case with this book. I've never read a book with scenes like this and I enjoyed them. Their sex was important because they could fully be themselves and trust their insecurities with the other one. As Tate said, it was a way to get treated like she wanted, but would only allow it because she trusted him to stop if needed.
I can see some people having a hard time accepting this book because of the content involved in the bedroom. That's obviously okay, we all like different things. However, I just wanted to explain why I did like it so maybe someone can see a different pov. I think some people hear something they wouldn't be okay with and think "That's wrong" without thinking why a personality is the way it is. Is my sex life like this in the book? No. However, we all need and like different things. While I agree that there doesn't always have to be a reason to like something, it can just be that you enjoy it, it's apparent to me that Tate does have reasons. Mainly dealing with her father; they've never had a great relationship. He calls her names and treats her badly. However, in the bedroom she can control that and put a stop to it. She is the one in control. As I mentioned, we are entitled to our own opinions but at least think about why something is happening, instead of making a quick judgment.

Degradation The Kane Series Book 1 edition by Stylo Fantome Romance eBooks Reviews
This was my first read by this author and i think Stylo Fantome has just found herself another fan!
Although DEGRADATION is only part 1 of the Kane Trilogy, I have fallen completely in love with this book. Written in 3rd person was a new thing for me but i soon got use to it and it didnt interfere with my reading experience.
Degradation was a new concept story wise and made my read that much more interesting. The story revolved around two main characters, Tatum O'Shea and Jameson Kane and their sidekicks Ang (Angier) Tatums bestfriend and buddy with benefits (yes, Ang is male) and Sanders, Kane's assistant.
Kane and O'Shea had known each other previously and were reunited 7 years later but both had changed dramatically and couldn't be more different in their everyday lives but when it came to the bedroom, they both craved much the same. Things most would find disturbing they found in each other, as the heading implies, Degradation is the name of the game...
They were both players in this game, trying to constantly get one up on the other. In the end both would lose, there are no winners in this dangerous game, but unfortunately they figured this out all too late.
This book had me on the edge of my seat...nail biting stuff with each thrilling page-turn. I read this book from start to finish, annoyed when i had to stop for a few hours sleep.
The characters were extremely strong, well developed and completely perfect for their roles! Both Kane and O'Shea had brilliant personalities and depraved needs that had me totally turned on! The story flowed well, with NO areas of idle chatter or page-filler words...this was non-stop, NEED TO KNOW MORE, and grabbed my attention completely.
Even though this book sells as "dark", i certainly wouldn’t class it as dark...more erotica with a theme that some may not like? It did contain some violence but not in a way that was violent if that makes sense? There were NO cringe worthy moments that were hard to handle....it was quite tame compared to others in this category actually.
I on the other hand loved it and can't wait to see how the series plays out? I will definitely be exploring more of this authors work and give her a massive 5 stars for a job well done and an amazing beautifully degrading read!
💜💕💜
This book has been on my kindle over 3 years and my biggest regret is that it took me so long to get around to reading it. I LOVED it. I couldn't put it down. Jameson and Tate have one unexpected night seven years ago. Because he was her sister's boyfriend, she is treated like the one at fault and shunned by her family. It's kind of a blessing for her. She drops out of college which she hated and begins to live the lifestyle she wants. Working as a bartender, partying, going through a lot of men and committing to none, she never forgets that night with Jameson.
Then, while temping at a job, she runs into him. He tracks her down again, and they become involved in the most messed up, destructive, crazy relationship. Although they don't call it that. They are seriously messed up. It's not destined to go anywhere as neither of them want the hearts and flowers thing. But Tate's emotions begin to come into play and the game her and Jameson have been playing, begins to change. This book is a wild, messed up, crazy ride, but I couldn't get enough of it. Couldn't wait to get onto book 2.
Finally a book that stands out from a saturated market. Although having a lot of books to choose from is not a bad thing, but I've been getting bored with the same formulated romance novel. I've been in a book slump lately, but this finally snapped that.
